Warm Greetings!

This is a continuation of my previous post Interview Tips & Preparation where I discussed some important tips and ideas to achieve the desired goal in interviews. In this post, I want to list some common & important questions one may expect in interviews and also will be sharing suggestions & ideas on credible answers to those questions.

📂 Content:

To be a STAR in your interview, use STAR method

The STAR method is a useful technique to answer any interview question that is focused on competency, behavior, situation, etc. STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result. The acronym helps one to remember the important elements to add to their answers for competency based questions. Here is how one can include STAR in their answers:
  • Situation: Describing the situation one faced that is relevant to convince their answer
  • Task: Describing the role or responsibilities assigned in the above mentioned situation
  • Action: Explaining the action taken to fulfill the challenges and get the best possible result out of it
  • Result: The result/ outcome/ accomplishment/ experience/ learning achieved by the above mentioned action
The answers delivered using the STAR method always help the interviewers easily assess the candidate's skills by understanding how the candidate can contribute to their organization.

Take the STAR for a resume or CV

One can use STAR to describe work experiences in a concise and impactful way. Describe your work experiences using STAR instead of simply listing your job role. For example, if you worked as an assistant to the chief editor of the college magazine, instead of mentioning that as

" Assistant to chief editor of the college magazine"

you can mention the same using the STAR method which is more impressive as follows:

"Assisted the chief editor of the college magazine for 5 years to proofread, edit, design, print, etc."
